I don't know if this is the sort of thing you are talking about but I use Digiguide http://www.digiguide.com/ You have to subscribe to get all the features but I think its good and has lots of features like for instance you can search for programs and it will find all the instances of when that program will be aired and you can make favorites list and set reminders. Anyway just thought I would add my bit seen as you were asking.
Lou, we have had TV Guardian and loved it! It was a DVD player with the programming to allow you to filter out all bad language. We ordered our off the web and had it for several years.
The only frustrating part was that when you set it to the strict setting, it would cut out all references to God. This is good if it's bad language or slang. But the problem was that you would end up missing alot of dialogue.
We then tried ClearPlay and hated it. You have to download filters onto a memory stick and then put the stick into the player. It doesn't filter language, just scenes. And you have to subscribe to it and pay monthly for the updated filters.
