Knitting Socks for Me

O.K.
So here are my toe-up-2-at-a-time socks. If you are unfamiliar with knitting, socks are generally knitted on a set of 4 double pointed needles from the cuff down. This is a newer technique.
You can knit two at a time instead of knitting one complete sock and then have to knit another complete sock. With two at a time, they get done...at the same time.....! (you can also try them on as you go)
I like knitting them both ways, but this is my current favorite.

I am knitting the "Tuscany" sock from the book in the larger size. They ARE a tad bit large. The length is good, but the circumference is a little too roomy.
I am going to finish them up the calf and see if I like them or if anyone I know can wear them.
If not, I won't have any qualms about ripping them out and knitting the smaller size.

This yarn is the Patons Kroy FX sock yarn. Wool/Nylon. Color name: Clover Colors.
You just have to live with the fact that the colors are not exact in each sock.
Here are my other practice socks from this book.

  1. Congratulations on the beautiful accomplishment! I want to become the queen of sock knitting so I can even design them! So far, I've yet to make one single pair that I'm satisfied with. I too had sizing problems. I long to have someone show me the method you were using, yet I love my antique books chock full of regular old sock patterns! I am in a guild where the knitters (all but me) are incredibly talented. They knit gorgeous socks (and everything else) all the time, I just never took time to learn the two at a time method. Our county fair starts tomorrow. The guild will be there spinning and knitting all week. I took a load of exhibits in today. Next week I'll post about any prizes! Again, lovely socks!

  2. That is so neat! I can't even knit one sock at a time, let alone two. ;) (well maybe if I was left in a room with nothing else to do for about a week. hehe! :) )
    They look great!
