Mystery Plant

Does anyone know the name of this pretty plant?
It grows in Indiana.
We thought perhaps in the milkweed family, but are unsure.
What are YUR thoughts?

Since my post I have been informed that it is a milk thistle. Go here.

  2. A little birdy just told me *snicker* but did you know . . .
That it is Scotland's national flower because (supposedly) one night, long ago, the Norsemen were sneaking up on the Scottish to finish them off once and for all. But as they slinked through the night, a hedge of prickly thistles barred their way, and the Scots were saved!

    Alba Gu Bra!
