Chris is heading home today!

The Big Visit

My beloved has been working in the state of New York since Nov. 2011. He has been home @ 7 days since then. He told a friend he would help him-and he is. Chris is not one to sit around twiddling his thumbs when he isn't working. So he took some little excursions. He worked there for 3 wks in Aug. 2011, so some pics are from that time....the ones that don't look 'cold'.

He walked around New York City.

He made new friends: where he is working. Lily and Sam.

He has had countless meals. He is on the right.

A memorial to 911. I think it is in or new New York City or Staten Island or something.

He is in front of a mural of baseball. Probably someone famous.

He visited Rhode Island-how cute!

He went to Staten Island.

He had french onion soup.

He ate.

In Monticello he visited the Harness Racing Museum.

Took a ferry ride in New York City to see the Statue of Liberty.

He visited Boston Harbor.

He did lots of laundry.

Sticks with a Solid Foundation

Last Monday we three started building a deck for a customer. At dark on Saturday...it was nearly done. With a few more finishing touches Monday morning...it will be complete. It is a 16 x 20 foot deck. Walk off that area in your grassy yard and you will wonder if it will be big enough for all of the fun you want to have on it. It will be.

In this picture some one had already came with an auger and made 24 holes in the ground.

Posts, cement and water to make a solid foundation.

Each post had to be level and square. The yellow contraption attached to the post is a level and it had bubbles that need to fall between certain lines to be 'level'. Each post had to be level.

These particular boards were cut by Margaret. Below you can see where they went.

The floor and then the railing. When finished the deck had lattice work all around the bottom, which was lovely.

Steps looking good. Not an easy peasy thing to do, but Chris makes every thing look EASY. Honest.

Each day I came home tired and achy KNOWING I would surely die. But I didn't.

Steeple Complete

A little cosmetic touch ups and it will be completely finished.

If Lightning Strikes

The finial is a crowning ornament. It covers that lightning rod and makes it all pretty.
The lightning rods were in place before the steeple was set in place. The additional rod you see sticking straight up was applied after the roof was finished.
The lightning rod rope runs down the side of the building and is buried 10 feet into the ground.
